My Fitness Journey

I have been on a weight loss journey for as long as I could remember.  In high school I only weighed 100 pounds and even then I still thought I had to lose weight.  I would cut down on calories a few days before a dance or the prom to make sure my tummy was flat and I'm proud to say that I did not have to wear a girdle until after my 35th birthday!

My early 20s were manageable as I was mostly at the 110 to 115 mark and if I would go a little past that, I would just sign-up for a month's aerobics class and voila, I'm back to my slim figure again.

I guess I've always been obsessed with my body weight because I was born with chubby cheeks I had to be really light just to see my face slim down to what I considered a normal-sized face.

Things got tougher post pregnancy and I did lose the baby fat three months after giving birth but I always plateaued at 113 pounds with my dream weight just three pounds away!

I decided to make a permanent change last year and I took on one of the most important challenges of my life by taking control of my health and fitness on July 15, 2020.

The first step was to join a gym and actually go and do the workouts.  Typical gyms did not work for me so we decided to enroll at The Camp Transformation where they made fitness fun with HIIT and Cross Fit, relay style, which we absolutely enjoyed!

I was 130 pounds when we started (132 was my heaviest and I'm 5'2 1/2.)  My waist which was an important barometer of my success was 30-inches.  My daughter and I worked out at 5am in the morning 5x a week and after 8 weeks, I even gained two more pounds!

For decades I refused to believe that you can't lose weight without changing your diet.  When I was younger, I ate everything I wanted and exercised just when I had the need to but after 40, things have become really difficult.  You put twice the effort in for half the result.  So after seeing that working out alone was not going to do the trick, I cut down on eating white rice 3 times a day on August 22, 2019.  Yep, I am Filipino and I used to eat 3 rice 3 times a day :)

I managed to lose about 4 pounds after eating rice just once or twice a month after about 6 to 8 weeks and again I felt like I already plateaued.  My goal was to get down to 115 pounds but my dream was to finally reach 110 pounds.  I had been hearing about intermittent fasting from several friends and thought I would give it a try so I did on October 6, 2019.  I only ate from 10am to 6pm 95% of the time.  This worked really well along with counting calories, walking 10k steps a day, and still doing cross fit 5x a week.

By January 1, 2020 I was down to 120 pounds and I continued just doing everything and started doing focused ab and butt exercises as home as I really wanted to know what it felt like to have a 6-pack :)

I reached my goal weight of 115 pounds by mid February 2020, 7 months after I started my fitness journey!  Everything I still did religiously and the pounds and inches just kept coming off like magic.

By the end of April, I finally reached my dream weight of 110 pounds and had 25.5-inch waist :)  But I did not stop there!  I wanted to be even healthier and leaner so I started the Yoli 28-Day Fitness challenge and in just a week I dropped 4 more pounds.  I am now at a weight and size that I love and just maintaining that with supplements from Yoli that I really love and workouts from Beach Body that I'm super obsessed with!  We haven't been back to The Camp unfortunately due to the LA lockdown.

Eventually, I would like to help women over 40 to do the same!  I have always taken things to the next level especially things I am really passionate about.  I thought that sugaring was the most amazing innovation and Lay Bare was born. I'm so amazed by my own transformation and I still find it surreal and now I want to take my fitness it to the next level too - by being a Beach Body Coach.

If you are just starting your journey, hang in there!  Things that last always take time.  Be consistent and your body will reward you! If you need tips, just ask me :)  Good luck and sending you love from Los Angeles! <3
